Eighteen at Eastern Neck hundred in the County afd & within the Jurisdicion of this Court by force and Armes the Tobacco house of a certain William Pope then & there did break & enter & ye quantity of Ninety Six pounds of Tobacco of the value of Sixteen Shillings Sterling the goods & Chattells of the Said William Pope then and there being found then and there feloniously did Steal take & bear away against the peace of our Said Lord Proprietarie his rule & dignity and that whereas a Certain Thomas Cooke late of Eastern neck Hundred in the County afd Labourer the Said tenth day of May in the year afd at Eastern neck Hundred afd and at divers days & times before the Said felony in forme afd made and perpetrated at Eastern neck Hundred afd in the County afd maliciously and feloniously did counsell command procure invite and abett the afd Robert~ Lynch the afd felony voluntarily to do and Committ against the peace of our Said Lord proprietarie his Rule & dignity and against the forme & effect of an- Act of Assembly of this Province now in force in Such Cases made & provided Johnson pr Dõn Propr. on the back of the preceeding bill was Endorsed as folls vizt Billa vera pr Abram. Redgrave foreman Evides Thomas Hughs Timothy Slauter and the afd Robert Lynch being called in his proper person comes with Court and appears to the Same aand the Indictment afd in forme afd being read to the afd Robert Lynch Who Saith that he Cannot gainsay but that he is guilty of taking Tobacco out of the Tobacco house of the afd William Pope and Submits to the Same Therefore it is Considered by the Court here vizt. this Nineteenth day of June Annoque Domini One Thousand Seven hundred and Eighteen That the afd Robert Lynch Stands two hours in the Pillory and then to have on his bare back nine Lashes till the blood appear for his offence for Committing of the felony afd and also Pay four fold to William Pope being to the value of thirty Six Shillings Sterling the goods Stoln valued to nine Shills. Sterling: and also pay the Sume of Three hundred and^fourteen pounds of Tobo Cost accruing on the premises afd to the officers of this Court It is Considered by the Court here vizt. the Same day last mentioned That Simon Wilmer Gent~. high Sherf of Said County take the afd Robt. Lynch Putt into the Pillory and there to Stand as afd and then to putt to ye Common Whyping Post & thereto Receive as in the Judgment afd and then to bring him into Court After which the afd Sherf the Same day last mentioned came and made return of his precept agst. the |
