June Court 1718 89 James Smith to have twenty Shillings pr year for getting the Lower Rooms in the Court house wash’t the benches & Table and the rooms above Stares to be Swept. againe every Court. Robert Webb being taken up by Thomas Maslin of this County as runaway he travelling without a pass on Suspicion of being A Servant and brought before Mr. Marmaduke Tilden one of his Lord Ships Justices of the peace for this County Who Committed the Same to the Custody of Simon Wilmer Gent~ high Sherf of Said County : The Said Robert Webb being brought before this Court The Court orders that notes be Sett up at the next adjacent Countys & at the Secretarys office to give an Accot. of him And that he Still Continue in Custody According to Act of assembly in Suches provided &ca John Steward being taken up by James Meeks of this County as a runaway he travelling without a pass on Suspiciõn of being a Servant and brought before Mr. John March one of his Lord Ships Justices of the peace for this County who Committed the Same to the Custody of Mr Simon Wilmer high Sherf of Said County The Said John Steward being brought before this Court the Court adjudges the Said person not a Servant ordered that he pay his fees & taking up and that he have his liberty Mr. Michael Miller takes his place and Sitts on the bench Grand jury returns & being called over do apr. & delivers a prsentmt. agst. Peter Reed of Easter Neck hundred for Selling Licqrs. Contrary to Act of Assembly Consents that forme not touching Substance may be altered Grand jury returns a prsentmt. agst Katharine Kelley of Langfords Bay Lowr. hundred for Selling Licqrs. Contrary to Act of Assembly Consents that forme not~. touching Substance may be altered Grand jury discharged allowed at William Glanvills five hundred pounds of Tobacco to be allowed ye Same in the Levey next fall Col. Thomas Smyth of this County comes into Court and prays that Robert Linch his Servant may be Sworn Generally to what Shall be demanded of him the Court orders that the Same be Sworn Robert Linch afd being Sworn Saith that he did deliver a Shirt and a Silk hankerchife and a Certain Thomas . Cooke of this County Received them of him and payd him for the Same three Shillings and Six pence or three Shillings and further Saith not~
