   detaineth and one Sustantiall Cart with Cart Sadel Coller & Heams of the value of ffour
   pounds Currant money of Maryland which from him he unjustly detaineth and that~
   he have then & there the Said writ &ca
        Att which Said next Court vizt. the Eigtheenth day of March the Same Year last~
   mentioned the day of return of Said writ came Simon Wilmer Gent~ high Sherf of Said
   County and made return thereof in these words thereon Endorsed as folls vizt. I have~~
   taken the within George Gleaves but that he remains Languishing in Prison ——

   After which Command was given to the Sherf of Kent County the Twenty first day
   of March in the third year of his Lordships Dominion &ca. Whereas he was lately
   Commanded to take George Gleaves of Kent County planter alis Dics George Gleaves -
   of Kent County in Sd Province Carpenter if he Should be found in his Bailywick and him
   Safe keep So that he was to have his body before the Justices of our last County Court that
   was held at our Court house in the Town of Chester in Said County to Answer unto John—
   Dowdall of a plea that he render him the full and just Sume of Six pounds Seventeen Shillings
   Currant money of Maryland by ye name of new Currancy which to him he oweth and -
   from him unjustly detaineth And one Substantiall Cart with Cart Sadle Coller & Heams of
   the value of four pounds Currant money of Maryland which from him he unjustly detaineth
   And at the Said Court to the afd Justices did return that he had taken the body of the Sd~
   George Gleaves but that he Languised in Prison that he could not have his body —
   before the Said Justice to Answer the Said John Dowdall in the plea afd But on the
   part of the Said John Dowdall the Court [Recd?] that the Said George Gleaves was out of
   prison it was Commanded that he bring with him the body of the Said George
   Gleaves altho Languis^hing in prison before the Justices of our next County Court to be
   held at our Court house in the Town of Chester in Sd County to Answer unto the afd John~
   Dowdall in the plea afd And that he have then & there the Said writ &ca.   .
     Att which Said next Court vizt. the Seventeenth day of June Anno Domini One
   Thousand Seven hundred and Eighteen the day of return of Said writ came Simon-
   Wilmer Gent. high Sherf of Said County and made return thereof in these words —
   thereon Endorsed as folls vizt. I have his body pr Simon Wilmer Sherf
   And the afd Deft being called came And the Said Plt by Thomas Bowne his
   attorney prays that the Said Deft may give Special baile to the afd Accõn which
   is granted and that he be kept in Safe Custody by the Sherf of Said County untill he—
   Shall give Special baile
    After which Peter Mercy of Said County comes into Court and Acknowledges himselfe
   as Speciall baile in the afd Accõn and doth undertake the payment of the Debt afd &
   Cost thereon accruing if the Sd Deft~ Should be cast in the Same And the Condemnation
   Shall not Satisfie nor himselfe to the Custody of the Sherf of Said County deliver or—
   that the afd Peter Mercy the body of the afd Deft Shall not render &ca.
    And the afd Deft~ in his proper person appears to the above Accõn
     after which the Same was Continued untill the then next Court in Course—
