   Innholder Plt~ as well the Sume of one pound fourteen Shillings and Six pence —
   Currant money and five hundred forty two pounds of Tobacco Damages by the afd Plt
   recovered against the Said Deft before the Justices of our Said Court~ on the Twentieth
   day of March Instant whereof he is Convict as appears upon Record as also the
   Sume of Seven hundred and thirty pounds of Tobacco Cost~ of Sute as also together
   with the Sume of forty Six pounds of Tobacco additionall Cost hereof faile not at
   your Perill and have you then and there this writ Witness Nathaniel Hynson
   Gent~ chiefe Justices of our Said Court this Twenty first day of March in the
   Second Year of our Dominion &ca. Anno Domi 1717 TBowne pr Querr JamsSmith Clk.
    Att which Said Court the Same Court in the above writ last mentioned viz the
   Seventeenth day of June Anno Domini One Thousand Seven hundred and
   Eighteen the day of return of Said writ came Simon Wilmer Gent~ high—
   Sherf of Said County and made return thereof in these words thereon——
   Endorsed as folls vizt. Satisfaccon Recd pr S:Wilmer Sherf ———
   James Knowles — | Commanded it was to the Sherf of Kent County
           at | the Twenty first day of March in the Second Year
   Christopher Bateman | of his Lord Ships Dominion &ca. That he take

Christopher Bateman late of Kent County Taylor .
   if he Should be found in his Bailywick & him Safe keep So that he have his
   body before his Said Lord Ships Justices of the next Court to be held at our Court house in
   the Town of Chester in Said County to Answer unto James Knowles of a plea that he
   render unto him the full and Just Sum of five hundred and fourty five pounds of Tobacco .
   which from him he unjustly detains &ca. and that he have then and there the .
   Said writ &ca.   .   .   Att which Said next Court vizt. the Seventeenth day of June
   Annoq Domini One Thousand Seven hundred and Eighteen the day of return
   of Said writ came Simon Wilmer Gent~ high Sherf of Said County and made—
   return thereof in these words thereon Endorsed as folls vizt. Cepi Corpus pr S:Wilmer Sherf
   And the Said Deft~ being called came and the Said Plt~. by John Johnson his attry -
   prays that the Said Deft~ may give Special baile to the afd Accõn which is granted
   and that he be kept in Safe Custody by the Sherf of Said County untill he Shall give
   Special baile as afd .
    After which Peter Green of Said County came into Court and Acknowledged himselfe
   as Special baile in the above accõn and Acknowledged himselfe as Special baile in the
   above Accõn and undertakes the Payment of the Debt~ afd & Cost accruing if it Should
   happen that the Said Deft Should be cast in the Same And the Condemnation—
   Shall not Satisfie nor himselfe to the Custody of the Sherf of Said County deliver or
   that the afd Peter Green the body of the afd Deft. Shall not render &ca.
    And the afd Deft by Thomas Bowne his attry appears to the above accõn &.
   prays liberty thereof to imparle thereto to Answer at next Court which is granted.
