turn of Sd writt Endorst Cepi Corpus pr Simon Wilmer Sherf. Kent County Sst. The Jurors for the honourable the Lord propry and the Body of Kent County on their oath do present that Ann Glenn late of Eastern neck hundred Spinster Now Servant of a Certain Thomas Cook Planter the twenty ninth day of June in the Year of our Lord Christ one thousand Seven hundred and Nineteen at Eastern Neck hundred afd. in Kent County afd. and within the Jurisdiction of this Court the fear of God before her Eyes not have= ing but by the Instigation of the Devill being led did Committ fornication with a Certain person to the Jurors Unknown and thereby did Suffer her Self to be got with Child to the high displeasure of allmighty God to the Evill and pernicious Example of others against the peace of our Sd Lord propr: his Rule and dignity and against the form of an act of Assembly of this province now in force in Such Case made and provided Evid: Griffith Jones Constable DMacbride pr Dno proprio On the back of the preceeding Indictmt was Endorst as folls vizt Billa Vera Abram Redgrave foreman, Ordered that the Sd Ann prove the Begetter And the afd. Ann Glenn in her proper person appears to the afd Indictment and Saith that She Cannot gainsay the Same but that She is guilty of the premiss: es afd. and thereupon Submits to the Court on the Same Therefore it is Considered the 29th day of July Anno Dom 1720 afd by the Court here^ that the afd Ann Glenn pay the Summ of thirty Shillings Currant money her fine for Committing fornication as afd Confessed and also the Summ of three hundred and two pounds of Tobacco Costs ariseing on the premisses afd. Ordered that the afd fine be Delivered to ye Sheriff ordered that the fine afd. be delivered to the Sheriff which was immediatly done Ordered That the afd. Ann Glenn give Security that She keep the County harmless from the Charges that may accrue on account of her Child Whereupon Thomas Cook and Thomas Gideons Herein Court present Undertake for the afd. Ann Glenn in the Summ of five Thousand pounds of Tobacco That the County Shall be kept free and harmless from any Cost or Charges that may arise on account of the afd Child of the afd Ann Glen and herewith they acknowledge themselves and each of them to be Content as also that the Said Ann Glenn Shall Satisfy the fees as afd adjudged to the off= cers of this Court Jams Smith Clk |
