   D:M: His Lord Ship | Kent County Ss The Jurors for the Right Honble. the Lord
                  at | propry. and the body of Kent County on their Oath do
      Willm Beck | present that William Beck late of Woorten hundred
      ——————–
Planter the first day of January in the Year of our
   Lord Christ one thousand Seven hundred and nineteen at Lower South
   Sassafrax hundred in Shrewsberry Parish in Kent County within the
   Jurisdicion of this Court the Close of a Certain Nathaniel Pearce at
   South Sassafrax hundred in the Parish & County afd and within the Juris:
   : diction afd then and there with force and Arms did break and enter
   and one black mare of the price of Six pounds Sterlg money one bridle
   of the value of two Shillings Sterlg money and one Sadle of the value
   of fifteen Shillings Sterlg money of the Goods and Chattells of a Certain
   Thomas Jones then and there last mentioned being found unjustly
   did take and bear away to the great damage of this Said Thomas –
   Jones and against the Peace of our Said Lord Proprietarie his Rule
   and dignity and against the form of an Act of Assembly of this —
   Province now in force in Such Case made and provided

   on the back of the preceeding Indictment was Endorst as folls Billa
   Vera   Abram Redgrave foreman
   Kent County Ss William Beck | And the afd William Beck comes &

           ads | Says that he the afd Willm. Beck is not

The Ld Propry | charged in the above Indictment with
   any felony out only a tortious takeing from a private person on
   which no Indictment will or can Lye Therefore the Said William Beck
   prays that the Said Indictmt. may be quashed & held for naught
   Lord Ship | And the afd Lord Propry by his afd attry Say’th that
        at | for any thing by the afd Deft in abatement of the
   Willm Beck | Indictment afd by his plea afd alleadged ought not to
   be^debarred because he Say’th that the plea afd in manner and form
   afd made and the matter in the Same Contained are not Sufficient —
   in the Law to the which he the Said Plt hath no need neither by
   the Law of the Land is he obliged to Answer and this he is ready
   to Verify wherefore he prays Judgment that the Indictment afd may
   adjudged Good &ca.                                     D Macbride pr Dnõ Proprie
      and the Said William Beck joyns in the Demurrer with the
   Said Lord Proprietarie
    which Plea and Demurrer afd being read and argued and mature
   deliberation being by the Court thereon taken Therefore it is Considrd
