   Endorst Summoned pr Simon Wilmer Sherf
   Kent County Sst: The Jurors for the Honourable the Lord Propry. & ye
   body of Kent County on their Oath do present that John Jones late of upper
   South Sassafrax hundred Planter the fourth day of November In the year of
   our Lord Christ one thousand Seven hundred and Nineteen at upper South
   Sassafrax hundred in Shrewsberry parish in Kent County within the
   Jurisdiction of this Court and with a Certain district where William
   Burross then was for Amending and repairing the publick and main Roads
   Lawfully Appointed Overseer then and there being an Inhabitant & taxable
   and being by the Sd: Overseer Seasonably and duely Warned to Send all his
   Male taxables to Labout in mending and Repairing the afd Roads the Said
   John did then and there Obstinately & Contempticously Refuse to Send any
   Taxable Man to work and repair in mending a Certain Road leading from Cyprus
   Branch to Jno: Ellis within the district afd the Sd: Roads then & there being
   decayed and out of repair Against the peace of our Sd: Ld: Propry: his Rule &
   dignity and Against the form of an Act of Assembly of this province now in
   force in Such Case made and provided D Macbride pr Dnõ Propry
   Evide. William Burross overseer    on the back of the preceeding bill
   was Endorsed as folls viz Billa Vera pr Simon Wilmer Sherf.
   and now at the Said Court to wit the 16th day of March Anno Domi
   1719 comes the Said John Jones and defends the force and injury
   when &ca. And Says that he Cannot gainsay the bill of Indictment
   afd So as afd agst. him nor but that he did omitt coming to help Clear
   the Road when Warned by the Said overseer And thereupon he
   Submits to the Court Therefore it is Considered by the Justices
   here the 16th day of March Anno Domi 1719 afd That the Said
   John Jones be find the Sume of one hundred pounds of Tobo
   in Such Case made and provided &ca. And also pay the Sume of
   Two hundred and twenty five pounds of Tobacco Costs accrueing on
   the premises afd to the officers of this Court

      John Jones | Clear the Roads &ca. And wherein the Sherf of Kent
      Irish —–         | County to whom the Same was directed makes


return thereof to the Court here on the third Tuesday
   in March to wit the 15th day of the Same month Anno Domi 1719 being
   the day of return Endorst Sumoned pr Simon Wilmer Sherf
   Kent County Sst: The Jurors for the Honble: the Ld: Propry: & the Body of
   Kent County on their Oath do present that John Jones Late of upper South
