   D:M His Ld Ship | A Veniry Issued at the Suite of his Lord Ship on a bill

        at | found by the Grand Jury for not helping Clear the Roads &ca

  John Macay | and wherein the Sherf of Kent County to whom the Same was
   directed makes return thereof to the Court here on the third tuesday in March to
   wit the 15th day of the Same month Anno Domi 1719 being the day of return
    Endorst Summoned pr Simon Wilmer Sherf
   Kent County Ss The Jurors for the Honble. the Lord Propry and the body of Kent County

on their Oath do present that John Macay late of upper South Sassafrax

hundred Planter the fourth day of November in ye Year of our Lord Christ one

thousand Seven hundred and nineteen at upper South Sassafrax
   hundred in Shrewsberry Parish in Kent County within the Jurisdiciõn of
   this Court and within a Certain district where William Burross then was for
   amending and repairing the Publick and main Roads Lawfully appointed
   overseer then and there being an Inhabitant and taxable and being by the
   Said Overseer Seasonably and duely warned to Send all his taxable
   Males to repair and amend the afd Roads the Said John did then and
   there obstinately and Contemptuously refuse to Send any Male taxable to
   work & labour in mending a Certain Road leading from Cypras Branch to
   John Ellis’s within the district afd the Said Roads then being decayed
   and out of repair against the peace of our Said Lord Propry. his Rule and
   dignity and against the forme of an Act of Assembly of this Province
   now in force in Such Case made & provided D Macbride pr Dno Proprie—
   on the back of the preceeding bill was Endorst as folls vizt Billa Vera pr
    Simon Wilmer Sherf
      and now at the Said Court to wit the 16th day of March Anno Domi
   1719 comes the Said John Macay and defends the force and injury when &ca.
   and Says that he Cannot gainsay the Indictmt So as afd agst. him nor but
   that he did omitt coming to help Clear the Road when warnd by the Sd
   overseer Thereupon he Submits to the Court Therefore it is Considered
   by the Justices here the 16th day of March Anno Domi 1719 afd that the
   Said John Macay be Find the Sume of one hundred pounds of Tobacco
   for his offence afd in former afd Confessed According to Act of assembly in
   Such case made and Provided &ca. And also pay the Sume of Two hundred
   twenty five pounds of Tobacco Cost accruing on the premises afd to the officers
   of this Court                                                                             Jams Smith Clk
