   D:M William Elmes | This being an accõn of Debt for the Sume of one

        at | Thousand two hundred thirty and Eight pounds of

  John Beech     | Tobacco Commenced by the Plt agst. the Deft and



wherein there Issued a Copy of the Decln with the
   writ in Said accõn and wherein the Sherf of Kent County to whom the
   writ in the Same accon was directed makes return thereof to the Court
   here on the Third Tuesday in March to wit the 15th. day of Mar the Same
   month Anno Domi 1719 being the day of return Endorst Cepi Corpus Copy
   of the Decln Served in time pr me Simon Wilmer Sherf
   Kent County | John Beach of Kent County Taylor otherwise Called John
           in | Ss   Beech was Summoned to answer unto William Elmes
      Maryland    | of a plea that he render him the full and Just Sum of
   one thousand two hundred thirty and Eight pounds of Tobacco of the value
   of twelve pounds Seven Shillings Sterling money which from him he
   unjustly detains &ca. and Whereupon the afd Plt. by David Macbride
   his Attry Saith that whereas the afd Deft the fifteenth day of May in
   the year of our Lord Christ one Thousand Seven hundred & Nineteen at
   St. Pauls Parish in Kent County within the Jurisdiccõn of this Court by his
   Certain bill obligatory which he the Said Deft Sealed with his Seale
   and as his deed delivered hereinto Court brought the date whereof
   is the Same day & Year afd bound himselfe to pay or Cause to be paid
   unto the afd Plt. the afd full and Just Sum of one Thousand two hundred
   thirty and Eight pounds of Tobacco of the afd value of twelve pounds Seven
   Shillings Sterling money o or before the tenth day of November next —
   ensuing the date of the Said bill Obligatory Nevertheless the afd Deft altho?
   often required vizt. the Seventeenth day of November in the Year afd at
   the Parish County and Jurisdicion afd the afd full and Just Sum of one —
   thousand two hundred thirty and Eight pounds of Tobacco to the afd Plt
   he hath not rendered nor paid but that to him to render or pay hitherto
   hath refused & Still doth refuse & unjustly detains to the Damage of the Said
   Pltf twenty four pounds fourteen Shillings Sterlg money and thereupon he
   brings Sute &ca.            D Macbride pr Querr plds Jno Doe & Richd Roe
   and now at this Court to wit the 15th day of March Anno Domi 1719 comes
