                                    Novembr Court 1719                                      34[5]
   Thereupon Nathaniel Pearce of Kent County Gent undertakes for the
   Said Joseph Wood that in Case the Said John Johnson Shall recover Judgmt
   in the plea afd against the Said Joseph Wood or that the Said Joseph
   Wood Shall be therein Convict That then he the Said Joseph Wood Shall
   pay the Condemnation of the Court thereupon or render his body to the Custody
   of the Sherf of Kent County in Satisfaction thereof or that the Said —
   Nathaniel Pearce will do it for him
   Kent County | Joseph Wood of Kent County Planter als Dicts Joseph
           in | Ss Joseph Wood of Kent County Plantr was Summoned
     Maryland     | to answer unto John Johnson of a plea that he render


unto him ye full and Just Sum of four Hundred and –
   fifteen pounds of good Sound Merchantable Leaf tobacco Clear from ground
   leaves and all manner of trash with Casque to Contain ye Same Convenient
   in Kent County afsd of the value of four pounds two Shillings Sterling
   money which from him he unjustly detains &ca.
      And Whereupon the afd Plt by David Macbride his attry Sayth
   that whereas the afd Deft the Second day of February in the Year of our
   Lord Christ one Thousand Seven hundred and Eighteen at Shrewsbury —
   Parish in Kent County within the Jurisdiciõn of this Court by his certain
   bill obligatory which he the Said Deft Sealed with his Seale and as
   his deed delivered here into Court brought whose date is the Same day
   and Year above mentioned bound himselfe his heirs Execrs & Admrs to
   pay or cause to be paid unto the afd Plt the afd full and Just Sum of four
   Hundred & fifteen pounds of good Sound Merchantable leafe tobacco
   Clear from ground leaves and all manner of trash with Casque to Contain
   the Same Convenient in Kent County afd of the afd value of four pounds
   two Shillings Sterling money when thereunto Nevertheless the afd Deft
   altho’ often required the afd full and Just Sume of four hundred & fifteen
   pounds of good Sound Merchantable Leafe Tobacco Clear from ground leaves
   and all manner of trash with Casque to Containe the Same Conveniant
   in Kent County afd of the value of four pounds two Shillings Sterling
   money to the Said Plt he hath not rendered but that to him to render
   or pay hitherto hath refused and Still doth refuse and unjustly detains
   to the Damage of him the Said Plt Eight hundred and thirty pounds of
   Merchantable Tobacco and thereupon he brings Sute &ca
                                            David Macbride pr Querr Plds Jno Doe & Rd Roe
   and the afd Deft in his proper person comes and defends the force &
   injury when &ca. And Saith that he Cannot gainsay the Plt his accõn
   afd So as afd brought against him Nor can he Say but that the
   Said Plt ought to Recover his Debt by Occation of the premises afd
