     324                                       August Court 1719
     Att which Said next Court to witt the 19th day of August Anno Domi 1719 comes
   againe as well the Said Plts as afd by their attry afd as the Said Deft by Thomas
   Bowne his attry afd And the afd Christopher by Thomas Bowne his attry —
   Comes & defends the force and Injury when &ca. And Saith that he doth not
   owe to the afd Lord Proprietary and the said Laughlin Flin who as well for
   his Said Lordship as himselfe prosecuteth the afd two Thousand pounds of
   Tobacco or any part thereof in forme as the afd Laughlin Flin who as well
   for his Said Lord Ship as himselfe as afd prosecuteth hath above —
   declared agst him and of this he puts himselfe upon the Country &ca.

   Thereupon Command is given to the Sherf of Kent County that he
   Immediately cause to come here twelve &ca. By whom &ca. who neither &ca.
   To Recognize &ca. Because as well &ca. of which Said Precept the Said Sherf
   to wit Simon Wilmer Gent now here at this day to wit the 19th day –
   of August Anno Domi 1719 makes returne that he hath here ready —
   twelve &ca. as by his precept he was Commanded And now here afterwards
   to wit the day and Year last mencioned comes againe as well the Said
   Plts by their afd as the Said Deft by his attry last mentioned And —
   the Jurors of that Jury being Impannelled who being called likewise came
   to wit John Hall Thomas Piner Rice Jones junr. Mathew Piner Arthur
   Foreman George Still Nicho Lynch Joseph Reed John Clever John
   Williams Thomas Thackston Nehemiah Powell who being duely
   Elected tryd & Sworn to Say the truth in the premises upon their Oath
   do Say that they find for the Deft and that the Deft doth not owe
   unto the Said Plts the above Said two Thousand pounds of Tobacco
   as above declared And the afd Deft by his attry afd Prays Judgment
   on the verdict afd Therefore it is Considered by the Justices —
   here the 19th day of August Anno Domi afd That the Said Right
   Honble Charles Lord Baron of Baltemore absolute Lord and Proprietary
   of this Province and Laughlin Flinn take nothing by their writ afd —
   but be in mercy for their false Clammor and that the Said Christopher
   Bateman go thereof without day And also it is Considered by the
   Justices here that the Said Christopher Bateman Recover against the
   Said Laughlin Flinn the Sume of Eight hundred twenty five pounds
   of Tobacco by the Court here adjudged^untohim for his Costs and Charges by
   him about his Suite Defence in this behalfe laid out and Expended
   According to the forme of the Statute &ca.
