318 August Court 1719 of Forty Shillings Sterling money and Tenn Bushells of Merchantable Indian Corne of the valueof Twenty Shillings and three Yards of Blew Lining of the value of Eighteen pence Sterling money the Goods and Chattells of the Said James Harris and purloned from the Said James Harris without Leave of Licence first had and Obtained from the Said Slaves Said Master Mistris Dame or Overseer for her the Said Deft So trading or buying Contrary to the forme and Effect of the Said Statute above mentioned lately made and provided the Said Deft well knowing the Said Negro Slave then and there to belong and appertain unto the Said James Harris and the Said Goods and Chattells to belong to the Said James Harris and from the Said James Harris purloyned by which Action accrewed to the Said James Harris who as well for the Said Lord proprietor as himself prosecutes to have and Exact of the afd Deft for the afd Lord proprietor and the afd James Harris the afd value of twenty pounds Sterling Nevertheless the afd Deft altho afterwards vizt. the fifth day of November in the Year of our Lord Christ One Thousand Seven hundred and Seven: teen and often after at the Parish County and Jurisdiciõn afd was thereunto required the afd Two Thousand pounds of Tobacco to the Said Lord proprietor or the afd James Harris who as well for the Said Lord proprietor and himself prosecutes or to any of them hath not paid But that to the Said Lord Proprietor or to the afd James Harris who prosecutes as afd &ca. to pay hitherto hath denyed and Still doth deny and unjustly detain to the Damage of him the Said James Harris forty pounds Sterling who as well for the Said Lord Proprietor as for himselfe thereupon prosecutes and thereupon as well for the Said Lord proprietor as for himself he brings Sute &ca. { Jno Doe TBowne pr Quer plds { & { Richd Roe and the Said Sarah Jewers by Michael Howard her attry comes and defends the force and injury when &ca. and prays leave to Imparle hereunto untill next Court And She hath it And the Same day is given to the Plts also Att which Said next Court (to wit) the Seventeenth day of June Anno Domi 1718 comes againe as well the Said Plts by their Attry afd as the Said Deft by her attry afd And the Same Action is Continued untill the then next Court Att which Said next Court to wit the Nineteenth day of August Anno Domi 1718 comes againe as well the Said Plts by their Attry afd as the Said Deft by her attry afd And the Same Action is Continued untill the then next Court att |
