   Liege Subjects of the Sd Lord ye King that now is then and there being present & hearing
   openly and publickly with a Loud Voice did Speake Said affirmed published and Spread
   abroad of the Said Plt these false feigned Scandulous & Malicious English words follg.
   that is to Say Thomas Tyer (the afd Thomas Tyer the now Plt. meaning) is a thief And
   in these words following vizt Thomas Tyer ye afd Plt. meaning Stoole a Mare in St.
   Jones’es County (meaning in Kent County upon Delaware afd ) and brought her (the
   Sd Mare Meaning) Down into Kent County (meaning Kent County in Maryland add within
   the Jurisdiciõn of this Court ) And also these words following vizt. Thomas Tyer (him
   the afd Thomas Tyer the Said Plt meaning ) Stole A mare in St. Joneses County
   ( in Kent County upon Delaware afd meaning and brought her ) the Said Mar —
   meaning down into Kent County (meaning in to Kent County in Maryland afd in
   the Jurisdiciõn of this Court and that I (the Sd Thomas Mahone ye afd Deft meaning)
   will prove it whereas in truth the Said Plt no theft Robbery Burglerry felony
   or larceny or any Such base and wicked Crime ever Committed or perpetrated by reason
   of the Speaking Saying affirming publishing of the afd fals Scandulous Malicious
   and Defamatory words the afd Plt is not only Extreemly hurt and damnified in
   his good name and Creditt amognst his good Neighbours and divers other good
   people to whom the Innocency of the Sd Plt in this part was unknown but
   also in danger of [hard?] Imprisonment Corporall punishment and the—
   forfeiture of his goods & Chattells Whereupon the Said Plt Saith he is damnified
   and hath damage to the value of fifty pounds Sterling money & thereupon he
   brings Sute &ca.
                                    TBowne pr Quer plds &ca. Jno Doe & Rd Roe—
      and the afd Deft by Michael Howard his attry comes and defends the force
   and injury when &ca. And prays leave to imparle hereunto untill next Court And
   he hath it the Same day is given the Plt also       Att which Said next Court
   vizt. the 17th day of March Anno Domi 1718 comes againe as well the Sd Plt
   by his attry as the Said Deft by his Attry afd And the Same cause was
   Continued untill the then next Court       Att which Said next Court vizt. the
   19th. day of June Anno Domi 1719 comes again as well the Said Plt. by his
   attorney afd as the Said Deft. by his attry afd And the Said Deft by his Said
   attorney cometh & defendeth the force and injury when &ca and Saith that he
   is no Sort guilty of the premises above on him Imposed as the Said Thomas Tyer
   against him hath declared and of this he puts himself upon the Country &ca.
                And the Plt. in like manner
   Thereupon Command is given to the Sherf of Kent County that he Immediately
   cause to come here twelve &ca. By whom &ca. who neither &ca. To Recognize &ca. Because
   as well &ca. of which Sd precept the Sherf of Sd County now here to wit this 19th day
   of June Anno Domi 1719 makes return that he hath here ready twelve &ca.
   as by his precept he was Commanded and now here afterwards to wit the day
   and Year last mentioned Comes again as well the Said Plt by his attry afd
