274 June Court 1719 Recognizance each of them Kent County Ss The Jurors for the Honble the Lord Propry and the body of Kent County on their Oath do present that William Debruler late of South Sassafrax Lower hundred in ye Sd County Planter the twentieth day of March In the Year of our Lord Christ one thousand Seven hundred and Seventeen at South Sassafrax Lower hundred afd in the Said County and within the Jurisdicion of this Court the fear of God before his eyes not having but by the Instigation of the devill being led did Committ fornication with a Certain Ann Kennard and thereby did begitt a Child on the body of the Said Ann Kennard to the high displeasure of Almighty God to the will and pernitious example of others against the peace of our Said Lord propry his Rule and dignity and against the forme of an Act of Assembly of this Province now in force in Such Case made and provided DMacbride pr Dio propie on the back of the preceeding bill was endorsed as folls viz Billa Vera pr Ffrancis Barney foreman And the afd Wm Debruler in his proper person appears to the afd Indictment And Saith that he cannot gainsay the Same but that he is guilty of the premises as afd And thereupon Submits to the Court on the Same Therefore it is Considered by the Justices here this 18th day of June Anno Domi 1719 That the afd William Debruler pay the Sume of Thirty Shillings Currant money his fine for Committing fornication as afd Confessed and also the Sume of one hundred Seventy five pounds of Tobacco Costs arriseing on the premises afd ordered that the fine afd be dd the Sherf which was Immediately done ordered by the Court here that the afd Wm Debruler pay unto Mathew Howard of this County the Sume of two hundred pounds of Tobacco it being adjudged for his part for the trouble and disgracve of the house where the afd Ann Kennard lay Inn
goods and Chattells Lands and Tenements Conditionally that if he does not make his personall appearance at the next Court to be held for Said County and to answer unto the afd Indictment and the mean time to be of good behaviour wherewith he acknowledges himselfe Content William Debruler & George Aires Acknowledges themselves indebted to his Lord Ship his heires and Successors in the Sume of five pounds Sterling Each to be Leveyed on their goods and C^hattells Lands and tenements Conditionally that |
