   Thomas Bowne – | Kent County Ss Christopher Bateman of Kent County
                  at | Taylor was Summoned to answer unto Thomas
   Christopher Bateman | Bowne of the aforesd County Gent. of a plea that

he render to him the full & Just Sume of fifty
   one pounds Sterling money which to him he oweth & from him unjustly
   detaines And Whereupon the Said Thomas Bowne in proper person
   Saith that whereas the afd Christopher Bateman the Eighteenth day of
   November in the Year of our Lord Christ one Thousand Seven hundred
   and Eighteen at St Pails Parish in Kent County within the Jurisdiciõn
   of this Court had accounted with the Said Plt of and Concerning divers
   Sumes of money to the afd Plt by the afd Deft before that time
   owing and unpaid and upon that accownting the afd Deft was
   found to be in arrears to the afd Plt in the Sume of fifty one
   pounds Sterling money by which accõn hath accrued to ye afd Plt
   to Exact & have of the afd Deft ye afd Sume of fifty one pounds Sterling
   money Nevertheless the afd Deft altho’ often required the afd Sume
   of fifty one pounds to the afd Plt hath not paid but that to him to
   pay hitherto hath denied & Still doth deny to the damage of the
   Said Defendant tenn pounds Sterling money & thereupon he brings
   Sute &ca.                           TBowne pr qr. prpr plds Jno Doe & Richd Roe
   And now at this Court to wit this 18th day of June Anno Domi 1719
   the Said Christopher Bateman by Michael Howard his attry comes and
   defends the force and injury when &ca. and Says that he cannot gainsay
   the Plt his accon afd So as afd against him nor can he Say but that
   the Said Plt ought to Recover his debt by Occation of the premises
   afd to the Sume of fifty one pounds Sterling and Costs of Sute against
   him which the Said Plt does not gainsay Therefore it is Considered by
   the Justices here the 18th day of June Anno Domo 1719 afd that the Said Thomas
   Bowne recover against the Said Christopher Bateman as well the —
   Sume of fifty one pounds Sterling money his debt afd in forme afd —
   Confessed as also the Sume of two hundred Sixty Three pounds of Tobacco
   by the Court here adjudged to him for his Costs and Charges by him about
   his Suite in this behalfe laid out and Expended and the Deft in
   mercy &ca —
     and the afd Deft by his attry afd releases all Errors in the Judgmt.

     Maryland Ss This is to require you or any of you to appear for me in this
   Kent County Court before the Justices of the Said Court and accept of a Declaration
   in Debt for the Sume of fifty one pounds Sterling money in the Said Court
   at the Suite of Thomas Bowne one of the attorneys of the Said Court and ~
   Confess Judgment in my behalfe to the Same Declaration for the afd
   Sume and cause a release of Errors to the Same Declaration to be
