   Gilbert Higginson | This being an accõn of Debt for the Sume of 656lb Tobo
             at | Commenced by the Plt against the Said Deft where:
   Henry Channell – | :in there Issued a Copy of Declaration with the writ

in the Said Accõn and wherein the Sherf of Said
   County to whom the Same was directed makes return thereof to the Court
   here on the third tuesday in June to wit the day of the Same month Anno
   Domi 1719 being the day of return of Said writ Endorst Cepi Corpus Copy
   Kent County Maryland Ss Henry Channel of Kent County Planter als Dics.
   Henry Chaenell of the County of Kent in the Province of Maryland Planter
   was Summoned to Answer Gilbert Higginson of greate Brittaine Merchant
   of a plea that he render him the full and Just Sume of Six hundred fifty &
   Six pounds of good Sound Cleane Dry Tobacco Cleare of all ground Leafe and
   trash in Caske of the value of Six pounds Eleven Shillings Sterling money
   which from him he unjustly detaines    And Whereupon the afd Plt
   by Thomas Bowne his attry Saith that whereas the afd Deft the Eighth
   day of July in the year of our Lord Christ one Thousand Seven hundred
   and Eighteen at St. Pauls Parish in Kent County within the Jurisdiciõn
   of this Court by his Certain bill obligatory which he the Said Deft
   Sealed with his Seale and as his deed Delivered hereunto Court brought
   the date whereof is the Same day and Year afd bound himself to pay
   to the Said Plt. the afd Sume of Six hundred fifty & Six pounds of good
   Sound Cleane Dry Tobacco Cleare of all ground Leafe & Trash in Caske of the
   afd value of Six pounds Eleven Shillings Sterling money Convenient in
   the Said County at or before the tenth day of October next ensuing the
   date of the Said Bill Obligatory Yett the afd Henry Channoll altho’ often
   required the afd Sume of Six hundred fifty & Six pounds of good Sound —
   Cleane Dry Tobacco Cleare all ground Leafe and trash in Cask to the
   Said Gilbert Higginson hath not paid but that to him to render or pay
   the Said Henry Channoll hath hitherto denyed and Still doth deny and –
   unjustly detain to the Damaged of the Said Gilbert Higginson twelve –
   hundred pounds of Like Tobacco afd and Thereupon he brings Sute &ca.
                                                      TBowne pr Querr plds Jno Doe & Rd Roe
   Whereupon at the prayer of the Plt by his attorney the Deft is adjudged
   to give Special baile to the accõn afd And that the Sherf of Said County –
   keep the Said Deft in Safe Custody untill he Shall give Special baile as afd
   The Plt not being an Inhabitant of this County Edward Mitchell of Said
   County Gentn undertakes for the afd Plt the Payment of all Costs to the afd
   Deft. if the Plt be Non Suited in the Same
           and The afd Deft here present in Court Say that he cannot gainsay –
   the Plt his Accõn afd So as afd against him brought nor can he Say but
   that the Said Plt ought to Recover his debt by Occation of the premises afd
   and Cost of Suite against him which the Said Plt does not gainsay ——
   Therefore it is Considered by the Justices here the 18th day of June
