210 March Court 1718 delays be Sett apart She be and appear before the Justices of our next County Court to be held at our Court house in the Town of Chester in Said County to Answer unto a bill of Indictment found by the Grand Jury against her for Committing - fornication with a Certain man to the Jurors unknown and thereby did Suffer herself to be begott with Child &ca. And that he have then and there the Said precept &ca. Att which Said next Court vizt the Seventeenth day of March the Same year last mentioned the day of return of Said writ came Simon Wilmer Gent. high Sherf of Said County and made return thereof in these words thereon Endorsed as folls vizt. Sumd pr Simon Wilmer Sherf. And the afd Mary being called came And in her proper person appeared to the afd Indictment And the afd Mary Saith that She cannot gainsay the Indictment afd but that She is guilty as above against her and Sub: :mits to the Court on Same ordered by the Court here that She Prove the begitter And the afd Mary Neale being Sworn in Court Saith that a Certain Anthony Debruler was the person that did begett ber with Child which was the last She bore . . Therefore it is Considered by the court here vizt. this Nineteenth day of March Anno Domini one thousand Seven hundred and Eighteen That the afd Mary Neale pay the Sume of Thirty Shills Currant money her fine for Commiting fornication as afd as also the Pay the Sume of Three hundred and fifty Eight pounds of Tobacco Cost accruing on the premises afd &ca ordered that the fine afd be Delivered to wch. the Sherf acknowledges to be answerable for ordered by the Court She be in Custody till the fees afd payd ordered yt Sums Issue agst. Antho Debruler returnable to next Cort. to Answer what Shall be objected agst. him on [Acct?] of ye afd Mary Proving him ye begitter of her Child as afd JamsSmith Clk
in the Sume of Twenty pounds Sterlg to be Leveyd &ca. Conditionally that if he did not make his appearance at this Court and to answer unto what Should be objected against him on his Lord Ships behalfe and that in the mean time he was to be of good behaviour And now at this Court no person Shewing |
