March Court 1718 209 Should be found in his Bailywick that all Causes and delays be Sett apart he be & appear before the Justices of our next County Court to be held at our Court house in the Town of Chester in Said County to Answer unto a bill of Indictment found against him for abuseing and profaining the Lords Day himselfe or by his Servts. by working in his Corn field &ca. And that the have then and there the Said - precept &ca. Att which Said next Court vizt. the Seventeenth day of March the Same year last mentioned the day of return of Said precept came Simon Wilmer Gent high Sherf of Said County and made return thereof in these words thereon Endorsed as folls vizt Summoned pr Simon Wilmer Sherf . and the afd William being called came and in his proper person appeared to the afd Indictm.t And Saith that he Cannot gainsay the Same and thereupon Submits to the Court Therefore it is Considered by the Court here viz:t This Nineteenth day of March Anno Domini One Thousand Seven hundred and Eighteen That the afd William Ellit pay the Sume of one hundred pounds of Tobacco his fine for Committing the offence afd and also pay the Sume of Two hundred forty Three pounds of Tobacco Cost accruing on the premises afd &ca JamsSmith Clk
Thousand Seven hundred and Eighteen at Worton Hundred in the County afd & within the Jurisdiciõn of this Court the fear of God before her eyes not having but by the Instigation of the Devill did commit fornication with a Certain man to the Jurors unknown & thereby did Suffer herself to be begott with Child to the high displeasure of Almighty God to the evill & pernicious example of others agst the peace of the Said Lord Prop.r his rule and Dignity & against the form of an- Act of Assembly of this province now in force in Such Cases made & provided Evide.
