   others & against the peace of our Sd Lord propr. his Rule & dignity & against the form
   of an Act of Assembly of this Province now in force in Such Cases made & provided

   under the preceeding bill was as folls vizt. true Bill Charles Ringgold foreman
   Thereupon Command was given to the Sherf of Kent County the Twenty Second
   day of November in the fourth Year of his Lord Ships Dominion &ca That he
   cause to come John Haynes late of Lower South Sassafras hundred Labourer
   Servt. to Rachel Medford of the Said County Widdow if he Should be found in his —
   Bailywick that all Excuses and delays be Sett apart he be and appear
   before the Justices of our next County Court to be held at our Court house in the
   Town of Chester in Said County to Answer unto a Certain Indictment found
   against him for comiting fornication with a Certain Rachel Newsam &
   thereby did begitt a Child on her body &ca And that he have then and there
   the Said precept &ca.   Att which Said next Court viz the Seventeenth day
   of March the Same Year last mentioned the day of return of Said precept
   came Simon Wilmer Gent. high Sherf of Said County and made return—
   thereof in these words thereon Endorsed as folls vizt Sumoned pr Simon—
   Wilmer Sherf
   and the afd John Haynes being called came and in his proper person appeared
   to the afd Indictment And the Same being read to him Saith he cannot gainsay the
   Indictment afd nor but thtat he is guilty as above and Submits to the Same
   Therefore it is Considered by the Court here vizt. This nineteenth day of
   March Annoq Domini One Thousand Seven hundred and Eighteen that the
   afd John Haynes to Receive on his bare back twenty one lashes well layd
   on his bare back for the offence afd and also pay the Sume of three hundred
   thirty Eight pounds of Tobacco Cost accruing on the premises afd
        it is Considered by the Court here vizt The Same day last mentioned
   That the Sherf of Said County take the afd John Haynes into his Custody and .
   put to the publick whyping Post and there Receive as in the Judgment afd
   and then to bring him into Court againe    After which the Same day last .
   mentioned came Siomon Wilmer Gent. high Sherf of Said County and made—
   return of his precept as folls vizt. In all things  Executed pr Simon Wilmer Sher[f]
    Rachel Medford mistris of the afd John Comes into Court and Saith She will
   take the Child that was begott Between the afd John Haynes and the afd
   Rachel Newsam mentioned in the afd Indictment and keep the Same from
   the County to which the Court orders that the afd Child be with the afd
   Mrs Rachel Medford and to Serve her till it comes to age
    ordered by the Court here that the afd John Haynes be delivered up at
   the Expiration of his time
