their oath do present that Margret Murrough late of Eastern Neck Hundred in the County afd the first day of October in the Year of our Lord one Thousand Seven hundred & Eighteen at Eastern Neck Hundred in the County afd & within the Jurisdiciõn of this Court the fear of God before her eyes not having but by the Instigation of the devill did Comit fornication with a Certain Negro man to the Jurors unknown and thereby did Suffer herself to be begott with a mollatoe Child to the high displeasure of Almight God the evil Example of others & against the Peace of our Said Lord Proprietarie his rule and dignity & against the form of an Act of Assembly of this Province now in force in Such Cases made & provided Johnson pr Dnõ propr. under the preceeding bill was as folls vizt. Billa vera Charles Ringgold foreman Thereupon Command was given to the Sherf of Kent County the twenty Second day of November in the fourth Year of his Lord Ships dominion &ca That he Cause to come Margret Murrough late of Eastern Neck Hundred in the County afd if She Should be found in his Bailywick that all Excuses and delays be Sitt apart She be and appear before the Justices of our next County Court to be held at our Court house in the Town of Chester in Said County to answer unto a Certain Indictment found against her for Committing with a certain^Negroman to the Jurors unknown and thereby did Suffer her Self to be begott with Child &ca. And that She have then and there the Said precept &ca. Att which Said next Court vizt. the Seventeenth day of March the Same year last mentioned the day of return of Said precept came Simon Wilmer Gent. high Sherf of Said County and made return thereof in these words thereon Endorsed as folls vizt. Sumd pr Simon Wilmer Sherf and the afd Margret in her proper person appears to the Same And the Same being Read to her as afd She pleads not guilty and for tryall puts her Selfe on the Country Mr. John Johnson Clarke of the Indictments in formes the Court that he hath no Evidence to prove the fact afd on which he prays leave of the Court to Enter a nole prosequi which is granted andt hat the Same Indictment be pro |
