    204                                    March Court 1718
   be Leveyed on his goods and Chattells Lands and Tenements Conditionally that
   if he do not make his personall appearance at the next Court to be held for Said
   County and then and there to Answer unto what Shall be objected against him
   on his Lord Ships behalf on Account of his begitting a Child on the body of—
   a Certain Ann Kennard and that in the mean time he is to be of good behaviour
   wherewith he acknowledges himself Content
   Likewise came into Court Benjamin Blackledge and Daniel Perkins both
   of this County And Acknowledged themselves Indebted to his Lord Ship his —
   heires and Successors in the Sume of five pounds Sterlg Each to be Leveyed on
   their goods and Chattells Lands and Tenements Conditionally that if the afd
   William Debruler Shall not appeare at the next County Court to be held for
   Said County And to Answer as afd And that in the mean time he is to be of
   good behaviour wherewith they acknowledge themselves to be Content
   His Lord Ship | Kent County Ss The Jurors for the Honble the Lord Proprietarie
        ——— | and the body of Kent County on their Oath do present that
            at | Mary Jackson of upper South Sassafras hundred Spinster
   Mary Jackson | the fifteenth day of March In the Year of our Lord Christ

one Thousand Seven hundred and Seventeen at Shrewsberry
   Parish In the County afd and within the Jurisdiciõn of this Court the fear of—
   God before her eyes not having but by the Instigation of the Devil did
   Committ fornication with a Certain man to the Jurors unknown and thereby
   did Suffer herself to be begott with Child to the high displeasure of Almighty
   God the evill and pernicious example of others and against the peace of
   our Said Lord Proprietarie his Rule and dignity and against the form of an
   Act of Assembly of this Province now in force in Such Case made and provided

   under the preceeding bill was as folls vizt. Billa vera pr Edward Davis foreman
   and the afd Mary Jackson comes into Court and appears to the Same and the
   Indictment as afd being read Saith She Cannot gainsay the Indictment afd
   nor but that She is guilty as above and Submits to the Same Therefore
   it is Considered by the Court here vizt. this Nineteenth day of March Anno
   Domini one Thousand Seven hundred and Eighteen That the afd Mary Jackson
   pay the Syne if thirty Shillings Currant money her fine for Committing the
   offence of fornication afd as also the Sume of one hundred Eighty Six
   pounds of Tobacco Cost accruing on the Same
    ordered by the Court here that the afd Mary Jackson prove the person—
   that begat the afd Child on which the afd Mary Jackson takes her Corpo:
  :rall oath on the Holy Evangilists of Almighty God and Saith that a Certain
   John Porter was the person that begatt her with Child of the last base born—
   She bore—
    ordered by the Court here that the afd John Porter pay the Sume of two —
   hundred and fifty pounds of Tobacco to the afd Mary Jackson it being half what
   She paid for trouble and disgrace of the house She lay Inn at .
    ordered by the Court here that Sumons Issue returnable to next Court
