   144                                       August Court 1718
   Bowne attry at Law in the afd Court may be his Council which is granted ordered
   by the Court here that the afd Thomas Bowne be as Council in the Same Cause
   for the afd Thomas Cooke
   And Thereupon Commanded it was to the Sherf of Said County that he
   Cause to come here twelve &ca. By whom &ca. To Recognize &ca. Who neither &ca.
   Because as well &ca. And the Sherf of Said County comes and makes return
   that he hath here Ready twelve as by his precept it was Commanded who
   being called Likewise came vizt. John Hurt Henry Knock Richard Scaggs
   Vivian Beck Robert Green George Still Nicho Lynch Thomas Joce Nicho.
   Joce Vincent Hatchinson John Davis William Simcocks which Jury being
   duely Elected tryed & Sworn and having heard the pleadings Evidences &
   allegations on both Sides do with draw and after Some time do againe
   return to the barr and being called over as also the Prisoner at the barr
   doth Answer and the Jury all appearing And being asked whether they .
   are agreed on a verdict do Say they are agreed on a verdict and being asked
   whether they find the prsoner at the barr guilty or not guilty as he Stands
   Indicted do Say they find the prisoner at the barr not guilty as he Stands
   Indicted And by John Hurt there foreman all So Say the Council for the
   afd Tho Coake prays Judgment on the verdict of the Jurors afd Therefore
   it is Considered by the Court here vizt. the Same day last mentioned
   That the afd Thomas Cooke as to the afd Indicment go thereof without
   day Paying his ffees to the officers of this Court amounting to the Sume
   of Thirteen hundred and Seventeen pounds of Tobacco Cost accruing on
   the premises afd. And that the afd Thomas Cooke Continue in the
   Custody of the Sherf of Said County untill the ffees afd Shall be paid

   John Johnson | Commanded it was to the Sherf of Kent
   & Isabella his wife | County the nineteenth day of June in the —
                at | fourth Year of his Lord Ships Dominion &ca.
   Thomas Masay . | that he take Thomas Masay of Kent County .

planter if he Should be found in his Bailywick
   and him safe keep so that he have his body before his said Lord
   Ships Justices of the next Court to be held at our Court house in the
   Town of Chester in Said County to Answer unto John Johnson &
   Isabella his wife of a plea of Trespass on the Case and that he have
   then & there the Said writ &ca. Att which Said next Court vizt. the
   nineteenth day of August the Same Year last mentioned the day
   of return of Said writ came Simon Wilmer Gent high Sherf
   of Said County and made return thereof in these words thereon
