me in hand paid have released from slavery liberated
manumitted and set free said negro man named
James W Pointer and by these presents do hereby
release from slavery liberate manumit and set free
said negro man named James W Pointer being of the age of
of thirty seven years and able to work and gain a
sufficient livelihood and maintenance and him the said
negro man named James W Pointer I do declare to be
henceforth free manumitted and discharged from
all manner of service and servitude forever  IN
Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and
affixed my seal this fourth day of June in the year of
our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty three

Be it remembered and it is hereby certified that
on this fourth day of June in the year of our Lord
one thousand eight hundred and fifty three before
the subscriber a Justice of the peace of the State of
Maryland in and for Anne Arundel County aforesaid
personally appears Wm Brewer Jr he being known
to me to be the person who is named and described
as and professing to be a party grantor in the foregoing
deed or Indenture and doth acknowledge the said
Indenture or Instrument of writing to be his act &
deed   In Testimony whereof I hereunto subscribe
my name on the day & year aforesaid
