and they are hereby each of them declared
forever free from any and all restraint
or control by me or any person acting
by my direction or authority.  Given under
my hand and seal this first day of January
eighteen hundred and forty nine
In presence of      Thomas Davidson  (Seal)

On this first day of January 1849 before the
subscriber a Justice of the peace for Anne
Arundel County State of Maryland personally
appeared Thomas Davidson and acknowledged
the foregoing deed or emancipation to
be his free act and deed and the
negro woman and child therein
named to be henceforth free manumitted
and discharged from all persons
and claims whatsoever

released from slavery liberated manumitted
and set free and by these presents do release
from slavery liberate manumit and set free
my wife named Rhoda Haynes aged about
forty four whom I purchased of Mr Benjamin
Clark Senr of the county and state aforesaid
