48 a Justice of the Peace of the state of Maryland for the said County and acknowledges the same to be his act and deed for the purposes within mentioned Acknowledged before J. W. Hunter Co 75 Recorded the 3.rd day of November 1848 paid
moving as also in further consideration of five dollars current money to me in hand paid have released from slavery liberated manumitted and set free and by these presents do hereby release from slavery liberate manumit and set free my negro woman named Amelia Stewart being of the age of twenty five years and able to work and gain a sufficient livelihood and maintenance and her the said negro woman named Amelia Stewart I do declare to be henceforth free manumitted and discharged from all manner of servitude or service to me my Executors or Administrators forever. In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this 18.th day of November eighteen hundred and forty eight Signed sealed and James Legg (Seal) delivered in presence of W.m Glover G.
