said John Ross after the expiration of his servitude
I do declare to be free manumitted and discharged
from all manner of service or servitude to me
my executors or administrators forever.  In
testimony whereof I have hereunto set my
hand and affixed my seal this second day
of June in the year of our Lord one thousand
eight hundred and forty eight

Be it remembered and it is hereby certified
that on this second day of June in the year of
our Lord one thousand eight hundred and
forty eight before the subscriber one of the Justices
of the Peace of the state of Maryland in and
for Anne Arundel County aforesaid personally
appears Robert Birckhead he being known to
me to be the person who is named and
described as and professing to be a party to
the foregoing deed or indenture and doth
acknowledge the said indenture or Instrument
of writing to be his act and deed.  In testimony
whereof I hereunto subscribe my name on
the day and year aforesaid
