231 Whereas My Slave Aaron Tongue has enlisted in the service of the United States now in consideration thereof I James W Allen of Anne Arundel County State of Maryland do hereby in consideration of said enlistment manumit set free and release the above named Aaron Tongue from all service due me his freedom to commence from the the date of his enlistment as aforesaid in the Regiment of Colored Troops in the service of the United States Witness my hand and seal this twenty sixth day of August 1865 Witness Owen M Taylor James W Allen (seal) Samuel Watkins W.m B Gardiner Anne Arundel County State of Maryland 1865 August Before me appeared this day James W Allen and acknowledged the above Deed of Manumission and Release of service to be his free act and deed U S Stamp 5c O M T Owen M Taylor Augt 29 1865 Recorded 30.th August 1865 Deed of Manumission & Release of Service Whereas my slave Westley Harwood or Harrod has enlisted in the service of the United States now in consideration thereof I Nicholas Brewer Ex.r of Nicholas Brewer deceased of Anne Arundel County State of Maryland do hereby in consideration of said enlistment manumit set free and release the above named Wesley Harwood or Harrod from all service due me his freedom to commence from the the date of his enlistment |
