          Before me appeared this day Mary E Hayden
Guardian of R Tydings and acknowledged the above
Deed of Manumission and release of Service to be
his free act and deed

                           Recorded 30.th August 1865


          Deed of Manumission & Release of Service
Whereas my slave Samuel Garrett has enlisted
in the service of the United States now in consideration
thereof Essex R Dorsey of Anne Arundel
County State of Maryland do hereby in consideration
of said enlistment manumit set free and release
the above named Samuel Garrett from all service
due me his freedom to commence from the
                      the date of his enlistment as
aforesaid in the               Regiment of Colored
Troops in the Service of the United States
          Witness my hand and seal this 29th day of
Augt 1865
