Arundel County State of Maryland do hereby in
consideration of said enlistment manumit set
free and release the above named John Day from
all service due me his freedom to commence from
the                           the date of his enlistment as
aforesaid in the                   Regiment of Colored
Troops in the Service of the United States
       Witness my hand and seal this 29th day of August
1865                                                      her

       Before me appeared this day Mary E Hayden
and acknowledged the above deed of Manumission
and Release of Service to be his free act and deed

             Deed of Manumission & Release of Service
Whereas my slave Joseph Stevens has enlisted
in the service of the United States now in consideration
thereof I Mary E Hayden of Anne Arundel
County State of Maryland do hereby in consideration
of said enlistment manumit set free
and release the above named Joseph Stevens from
all service due me his freedom to commence from
the                                       the date of his
enlistment as aforesaid in the             Regiment
of Colored Troops in the service of the United
States          Witness my hand and seal this 29th
day of August 1865                      her
