206 E Deed of Manumission and Release of Service Whereas my slave Henry Matthews has enlisted in the service of the united states Now in Consideration thereof I Thomas G Bird of anne arundel County State of Maryland do hereby in Consideration of said enlistment manumit set free and release the above named Henry Matthews from all service due me his freedom to Commence from the thirty first day of March the date of his enlistment as aforesaid in the Regiment of Colored Troops in the service of the united States Witness my hand and Seal this Eighth day of November 1864 Thomas G Bird Witness Nathaniel Chew John H Hopkins Anne arundel County State of Maryland 1864 U States Internal Before me appeared this day Thomas G Bird Revenue stamp and acknowledged the above Deed of 5 Cents N C Manumission and Release of Service to be his 8 Nov 1864 free act and deed Nathaniel Chew Recorded the 3 day of December 1864 E Deed of Manumission and Release of Service Whereas My slave Henry Leaman has enlisted in the service of the united states Now in Consideration thereof I Samuel Purdy of anne arundel County State of Maryland do hereby in consideration of said enlistment Manumit Set free and release the above named Henry Leaman from all service due me his freedom to Commence from the sixth of March 1864 the date of his enlistment as aforesaid in the 30 Regiment of Colored Troops in the service of the united States Witness my hand and Seal this 15 day of December 1864 Witness Wm R Thompson Samuel Purdy (seal) J R Magruder |
