Deed of Manumission and Release of Service
       Whereas my slave Henry Campher has enlisted in
the service of the united states  Now in consideration thereof
I Charles H Steele of anne arundel County State of maryland
do hereby in consideration of said enlistment Manumit
set free and release the above named Henry Campher from
all service due me his freedom to commence from the 31 of
March 1864 the date of his enlistment as aforesaid in the
39 Regiment of Colored Troops in the service of the united
                Witness My hand and Seal this twenty Eighth
day of September 1864

Consideration thereof I Charles H Steele of Anne arundel

above named Alexander or Elijah Cornish from all
