service due me his freedom to commence from the 31 day
of March 1864 the date of his enlistment as aforesaid
in the 39 Regiment of Colored Troops in the service of
the united states   Witness My hand and Seal this

Deed of Manumission and Release of Service
          Whereas our slave Peter Murdock has enlisted in the
service of the united states  Now in Consideration thereof we John
H Sellman and Sophia Sellman his wife of anne arundel
County state of Maryland do hereby in consideration of said
enlistment Manumit Set free and release the above named
Peter Murdock from all service due us his freedom to
Commence from the 10th day of September 1864 the date of
his enlistment as aforesaid in the 30 Regiment of Colored
Troops in the service of the united states
          Witness our hands and Seals this 12 day of October 1864
