Stamp 5 Cents              and acknowledged the above Deed of Manumission
11 June 1864                and Release of Service to be his free act and deed

Deed of Manumission and Release of Service
       Whereas my slave John Hall has enlisted
in the service of the united states now in consideration
thereof I albert G Cooksey of anne arundel County
State of Maryland do hereby in consideration of said
enlistment Manumit set free and release the above
named John Hall from all service due me his freedom
to Commence from the twenty second day of March 1864
the date of his enlistment as aforesaid in the 39
Regiment of Colored Troops in the service of the
United States Witness my hand and Seal this fourteenth
day of June 1864
