188 E Deed of Manumission and Release of Service Whereas our slave Edward Gordon has enlisted in the service of the united states Now in Consideration thereof we Frank H Stockett and Mary T Stockett his wife of Anne arundel County State of Maryland do hereby in consideration of said enlistment manumit set free and release the above named Edward Gordon from all service due as his freedom to Commence from the 26 Feby 1864 the date of his enlistment as aforesaid in the 30 Regiment of Colored Troops in the service of the united states Witness Frank H Stockett (Seal) Owen M Taylor Mary T Stockett (seal) Fannie Stockett Maggie Stockett Anne arundel County State of Maryland 1864 June 21 U States Intl Revenue Before me appeared this day Frank H Stockett stamp 5 Cents and Mary P Stockett his wife and acknowledged O M T 21 June the above Deed of Manumission and Release of service 1864 to be his free act and deed Owen M Taylor J P Recorded the 21 day of June 1864 Deed of Manumission and Release of Service Whereas my slave Thomas Young has enlisted in the service of the united States Now in Consideration thereof I John Sellman of anne arundel County state of Maryland do hereby in Consideration of said Enlistment Manumit Set free and release the above named Thomas Young from all service due me his freedom to Commence from the the date of his enlistment as aforesaid in the 30 Regiment of Colored Troops in the service of the united states Witness My hand and Seal This 22 day of July 1864 John S Sellman (seal) |
