16 causes and considerations me thereunto moving have from and upon the first day of January in the year eighteen hundred and seventy one and not before released from slavery manumitted liberated and set free and by these presents do from and upon the said day and not before release from slavery manumit liberate and set free my negro Girl named Caroline being at present of about the age of three years and her the said Caroline I hereby declare to be from the said first day of January eighteen hundred and seventy one and forever thenceforth freed manumitted liberated and discharged from all manner of service and servitude to me my executors administrators and assigns In Witness whereof I hereunto set my hand and seal this ninth day of February eighteen hundred and forty six Signed sealed and delivered in presence of Dorsey Jacob (seal) Robert Berne Joseph Arminger State of Maryland County of Anne Arundel sct Be it remembered that on this ninth day of February eighteen hundred and forty six before the Subscriber a Justice of the peace of said State in and for said County duly commissioned and sworn personally appeared Dorsey Jacob he being known unto me to be the person who is named and described as and professing to be party to the foregoing Indenture and acknowledged the same to be his act and deed In Testimony costs whereof I hereunto subscribe my name on the day and 55cts year aforesaid Robt Berne Paid Recorded the 24.th day of Feby 1846 |
