147 I Anne Maine Wells of Anne arundel County on the State of Maryland do hereby Manumit and set free my negro slave named Mary Matthews aged forty two Years and do hereby grant her her freedom to Commence from the date of these presents as witness my hand and seal this twenty ninth day of February in the year Eighteen hundred and sixty four Test Ann Maine Wells (Seal) Ann M Cormick A Randall State of Maryland anne arundel County Be it remembered that on this twenty ninth day of February in the year Eighteen hundred and sixty four before the subscriber a Justice of the peace of the said state in and for the County aforesaid personally appeared Anne Maine Wells the above grantor and acknowledges the above deed of Manumission as her act and deed Owen M Taylor JP Recorded the 2 day of March 1861 E Deed of Manumission and Release of Service Whereas my slave Reisin Snowden has enlisted in the service of the united states now in Consideration thereof I Eli Lusby of anne arundel County state of Maryland do hereby in Consideration of said enlistment manumit set free and release the above named Reisin Snowden from all service due me his freedom to Commence from the 10th day of March 1864 the day of his enlistment as aforesaid in the 30 Regiment of Colored Troops in the service of the united states Witness my hand and seal this 23rd day of March 1864 Eli Lusby (seal) |
