140 said father Henry T Rawlings I do by these presents Manumit and set free my aforesaid negro slave Caesar Hall aged about forty four years his freedom to Commence from the date of these Presents In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 28 day of may in the year of our Lord Eighteen hundred and sixty John R Rawlings Test J H Brown C Carter on the back of the aforegoing was thus written to wit State of Maryland Anne arundel County to wit I hereby Certify that on this 28 day of may 1860 personally appeared before the Subscriber a Justice of the peace for Anne arundel County and state of Maryland John R Rawlings and acknowledged the aforegoing deed of Manumission to be his act J H Brown JP Recorded the 29 May 1860 To all whom it may concern be it known that I Samuel Cheston of Anne arundel Coty in the state of maryland for divers good causes and Considerations me thereunto moving have released from slavery liberated manumitted and set free and by these presents do hereby liberate manumit and set free and by these presents my negro man Samuel Simms about twenty five years of age and the said negro I do hereby declare to be henceforth free Manumitted and discharged from all manner of service or servitude to me my Executors or administrators forever Witness James Cheston Saml Cheston (Seal) At the foot of the aforegoing was thus written to wit On this 28 day of May 1860 personally appeared before me the subscriber a Justice of the peace for Anne arundel Coty Samuel Cheston well known |
