135 paid 71 year above written Geo Polee one Cent Recorded the 26 day of May 1860 25 To all whom it May Concern Be it remembered and known that I Geo T Warfield being unwilling that my negro woman Elizabeth Powel should remain in a State of servitude after the death of Mary Barton for divers good Causes and considerations me thereunto moving do by these Presents release from Slavery liberate and Manumit and set free from all servitude to me my heirs and assigns for every My Negro woman Elizabeth Powell to take effect on the day of the death of the said Mary Barton and her the said Elizabeth Powell I do declare to be free from the time specified above and thenceforth Manumitted and discharged from all manner of service to me my heirs Executors administrators and assigns for ever. And if it should so happen that the said Elizabeth Powell shall have any child or children after date hereof and before the time above limited for her to become free I do hereby declare that Such Child or Children shall be free according to the laws made directing the manumission of such Children In Witness whereof I have hereunto set My hand and seal in the presence of her subscribing Witnesses this twenty forth day of may Eighteen hundred and sixty Signed Sealed and delivered in the presence of Geo T Warfield (seal) R A Shipley John W Shipley State of maryland anne arundel County to wit Be it remembered and it is now hereby Certified that on this twenty fourth day of may in the year Eighteen hundred and Sixty before the Subscriber a Justice of the peace of said state in and for said County |
