131 good causes and considerations me thereunto moving did on the 3 day of march 1854 Manumit and set free sundry persons mentioned in said Manumission and Recorded in Liber P No 4 folio 861 one of the manumission Record Books of Anne arundel County will appear and whereas it has been discovered that a Mary Ellen Smith intended to be manumitted and set free by said deed was omitted therefrom and for the purpose of securing to her her freedom this Instrument of writing is executed Now therefore I Thomas Burley of Anne arundel County and state of Maryland do hereby Manumit and set free My Mulatto Slave Mary Ellen Smith born on the 8 March 1842 her freedom to Commence from the date of these presents Witness My hand and seal this 28 day of February Eighteen hundred and sixty her Test Wm Glover Thomas x Burley N H Green mark At the foot of the aforegoing was thus written to wit State of maryland Anne arundel County to wit I hereby Certify that on this 28 day of February in the year Eighteen hundred and sixty before the Subscriber a Justice of the peace in and for Anne arundel County personally appeared Thomas Burley and acknowledged the foregoing deed to be her act Wm Glover Recorded the 28 day of February 1860 I Joseph M Bryan of Anne arundel County and state of Maryland do hereby Manumit and set free My negro slave named Peter Shaw and aged about thirty nine years his freedom to Commence from the date of these Presents Witness My hand and seal this Twenty Seventh day of February Eighteen hundred and Sixty Joseph M Brian (seal) |
