128 To all whom it may Concern be it known that I Hiram Richards Col man of Anne arundel County in the state of maryland for divers good Causes and Considerations me thereunto moving have released from slavery Liberated manumitted and set free and by these presents do hereby release from slavery liberate Manumit and set free my negro woman named Eliza being of the age of about forty years and able to work and gain a sufficient livelihood and maintenance and the the said negro woman named Eliza I do declare henceforth to be free manumitted and discharged from all manner of service or servitude to me my Executors or administrators forever In Witness whereof I have hereunto subscribed my hand and seal on this first day of October in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred and fifty nine Witness his Dorsey Jacob Hiram x Richards (seal) Mark On the back of the aforegoing was thus written to wit State of maryland Anne arundel County Sct Be it remembered and it is hereby Certified that on this 1st day of October in the year of our Lord Eighteen hundred and fifty nine before the subscriber a Justice of the Peace of the state of maryland in and for anne arundel County aforesaid personally appeared Hiram Richards and acknowledged the foregoing Deed of manumission or Instrument of writing to be her act and deed In Testimony whereof I have hereunto subscribed my name on the day and year aforesaid acknowledged before Dorsey Jacob Recorded the 3 day of Oct 1859 |
