126 Reuben Nichols aged thirty Eight years his freedom to commence at the expiration of his term of service with Daniel M Sprogle of anne arundel County state of maryland to whom I sold the said negro Reuben Nichols for a term of nine years as will appear by reference to the bill of sale executed by me to the said Daniel M Sprogle Witness my hand and seal this twelfth day of september 1859 Test Philip Clayton Elizabeth Vane (Seal) Mary M Scott At the foot of the aforegoing was thus written to wit State of maryland Anne arundel County sc Be it known and I hereby Certify that on this twelfth day of September 1859 personally appeared before me the subscriber a Justice of the peace of the state of maryland in and for anne arundel County the above named Elizabeth Vain and acknowledged the foregoing deed of manumission or instrument of writing to be her act and deed In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand on the day & year above written Philip Clayton JP Recorded the 11 day of October 1859 To all whom it may Concern be it known that I Jacob Winchester of anne arundel County in the state of maryland for divers good Causes and Considerations me thereunto moving have released from slavery liberated manumitted and set free and by these presents do hereby release from slavery liberate Manumit and set free my negro man ceser Johnson being of the age of forty years and able to work and gain a sufficient livelihood and maintenance and him the said negro man named Cesar Johnson I do declare to be henceforth |
