State of maryland for good Consideration do hereby
Manumit liberate and set free My negro man
slave Sam Jones aged about forty three or forty
four years his freedom to commence from the date of
these presents  Witness my hand and seal this 27 day
of august Eighteen hundred and fifty nine
Signed sealed and delivered
    in presence of                     Ellen Stockett   (seal)
Jno G Taylor   Frank H Stockett
at the foot of the aforegoing was thus written to wit
State of maryland Anne arundel County to wit
       I hereby Certify that on this 27 day of august eighteen
hundred and fifty nine before the subscriber one of the
Justices of the peace of the state of maryland in and
for anne arundel County personally appeared the within
named Ellen Stockett and acknowledged the foregoing
deed to be her act                        Jno G Taylor
Recorded the 29 day of augt 1859


I Mabel Griffin free Colored woman of Anne
arundel County and state of maryland do hereby
Manumit and set free Thomas Griffin Colored Man
now in his twenty second year left by the last
will and testament of a certain Kensy Griffin free
colored man late of the said County deceased
to serve me until the age of twenty five his freedom
to commence from the date of these Presents  Witness
my hand and seal this 17 day of augt A D 1859

at the foot of the aforegoing was thus written to wit
State of maryland Anne arundel County to wit
