12 of writing to be her act and deed for the purposes therein mentioned and the negro woman Harriett Mowbray within named to be henceforth manumitted and discharged from all services to her or to any claiming under her and to be free and manumitted according to the act of Assembly in such case made and provided and I certify that the said Elizabeth Harwood is known to me to be the same and identical with the person named and professing to be the party grantee in the foregoing instrument of writing and that she signed sealed and executed the same in my presence costs Acknowledged before & certified by 56¼cts Recorded the 8.th day of april 1845 W.m Glover
for various good and sufficient considerations me thereunto moving have manumitted set free and released from slavery and by these presents do manumit set free and release from slavery my slave Thomas Lomax of the age of about twenty five years the said Thomas Lomax being one of the slaves belonging to the Estate of the late John S Whittington assigned to his widow and by the said widow now Mary Manwaring and her husband Lucius Manwaring sold to me the said slave being sound and capable of earning his livelihood |
