in consideration of the services rendered unto me by my negro woman Harriett Johnson (alias Mowbray) have released from slavery liberated manumitted and set free my negro woman Harriett being of the age of 40 years and able to work and gain a sufficient livelihood and maintenance and the same Harriett Mowbry I do declare to be henceforth free manumitted and discharged from all manner of servitude or service to me my executors or administrators forever. In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my sale this second day of April in the year of our Lord eighteen hundred and forty five Signed sealed and delivered Elizabeth Harwood (seal) in the presence of W.m Glover Jos. H. Nicholson At the foot of the foregoing was thus written to wit Be it remembered that on this 2.nd day of April in the year eighteen hundred and forty five E Harwood personally appears a party to the within instrument of writing before me the subscriber a justice of the peace of the State of Maryland in and for said County and acknowledged the within instrument |
