118 We Charles Smith and Ann Smith of Anne arundel County and state of maryland do hereby Manumit and set free our slave woman Mary Hamilton and her youngest child Mary L Hamilton their freedom to commence from the date of these presents Witness our hands and seals this ninth day of January Eighteen hundred and fifty Eight Test Nancy Smith Ann Smith (seal) Test Basil S Benson Charles Smith (seal) At the foot of the aforegoing was thus written to wit State of maryland Anne arundel County Sc I hereby Certify that on the Ninth day of January Eighteen hundred and fifty Eight before the Subscriber a Justice of the peace of the state of maryland in and for said County personally appeared Charles Smith and Ann Smith and acknowledged the aforegoing deed of manumission to be their act Acknowledged before Nelson Phelps J P Recorded the 9 day of February 1858 I William H Turton of anne arundel County and state of Maryland do hereby Manumit and set free my negro slave Robert Harwood who was Twenty seven years of age on the Twenty seventh day of March Eighteen hundred and fifty seven his freedom to Commence from the date of these presents Witness my hand and seal this thirtieth day of August Eighteen hundred and fifty Eight Test Wm Bryan Wm H Turton (seal) Wm Glover At the foot of the aforegoing was thus written to wit State of Maryland anne arundel County to wit I hereby Certify that on this thirtieth day of August Eighteen hundred and fifty |
