       At the foot of the aforegoing was thus written to wit
State of Maryland Anne Arundel County Sc.t  I hereby
Certify that on this 14 day of October Eighteen hundred
and fifty seven before the subscriber a Justice of the peace
of the state of maryland in and for said County personally
appeared Amelia Gott and acknowledged the
aforegoing deed of Manumission to be her act

Recorded the 15 day of October 1857


       I Rebecca Whittington of Anne arundel County
and state of maryland do hereby Manumit and set free
my negro slave Dennis Edward Wells now about
twenty two years of age and able to work and gain
a sufficient livelihood and maintenance his freedom
to Commence at my death whenever that may occur
Witness my hand and seal this twenty third day
of December in the year of our Lord Eighteen hundred
and fifty seven

   At the foot of the aforegoing was thus written to wit
State of Maryland Anne arundel County to wit
      I hereby Certify that on this twenty third day of
December in the year Eighteen hundred and fifty seven
before the Subscriber one of the Justices of the peace of the state
of maryland in and for anne arundel County personally
appeared Miss Rebecca Whittington and acknowledged
the foregoing deed of Manumission to be her act
