113 belonging to me and in my possession by the name of Julia Irving or by whatsoever name she may be known or called being at this time about the age of twenty five years and the said mulatto woman slave named Julia Irving I do declare to be thenceforth that is to say from and after my death freed manumitted and discharged from all manner of servitude or service to my heirs executors or administrators and from all manner of claim or right of claim of servitude or service by my heirs executors or administrators forever And I do hereby declare fix and determine that the state and condition of the issue that may be born of the said mulatto woman slave named Julia Irving during my life time from this time henceforth shall be that of freedom In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this twenty eighth day of February in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty seven Signed Sealed and delivered in the W.m Brewer (seal) presence of W.m Glover and John S. Serveel Be it remembered that on this twenty eight day of February in the year eighteen hundred and fifty seven personally appears William Brewer party grantor to the within instrument of writing before me the subscriber a Justice of the Peace of the state of Maryland in and for the City of Annapolis and acknowledges the same to be his act and deed for the purposes within mentioned Acknowledged before paid W.m Glover Recorded the 28.th day of February 1857 Ex d d |
