107 State of Maryland Anne Arundel County Sc On this third day of September in the year Eighteen hundred and fifty four before me the Subscriber a Justice of the peace of the Said State in and for said County personally appeared Nicholas J Watkins he being known to me of my own knowledge to be the person who is named and described as professing to be the party to the foregoing deed or Instrument of writing and doth acknowledge the same to be his act and deed for the purposes therein mentioned Acknowledged before and Certified by John E Stalker Recorded the 3 day of September 1855 To all whom it may concern be it known that I William Lomax of Anne Arundel County in the state of Maryland for divers good causes and considerations me thereunto moving have released from slavery liberated manumitted and set free and by these presents do hereby release from slavery liberate manumit and set free my negro woman named Maria Alsop being of the age of twenty five years and able to work and gain a sufficient livelihood and maintenance and her children Eliza Alsop aged two years and Ellen Alsop aged three years and her the said negro woman named Maria Alsop and her two above mentioned children named Eliza and Ellen Alsop I do declare to be henceforth free manumitted and discharged from all manner of service or servitude to me my executors or administrators forever his In witness whereof we have hereto William x Lomax signed our names this 26th day of mark December 1855 James Boyle James W.
