106 Received this 15th August 1855 one dollar being the full consideration money therein mentioned S. W. Brice State of Maryland Anne Arundel County Sc Be it remembered that on this fifteenth day of August in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty five personally appeared before me the subscriber a justice of the peace of the state and County aforesaid Sophia W. Brice who signed and acknowledged the foregoing deed of manumission to be her act and deed. In testimony whereof I have hereunto subscribed my name the day and year above written paid John E. Stalker 62 Recorded the 17th August 1855 Ex d d d Know all Men by these presents that I Nicholas J. Watkins of Baltimore City for divers good Causes and Considerations me thereunto moving have released from Slavery Manumitted and Set free my negro woman Priscilla Phelps being about thirty nine years of age and able to work and gain a Sufficient livelihood and Maintenance and her three children to wit Margaret Ann Mary Frances and Laura and her the said Priscilla Phelps and her three aforementioned children I do declare to be henceforth free manumitted and discharged from all Manner of Service & Servitude to me my Executors or administrators for ever In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affix my seal this third day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred and fifty five Signed Sealed and delivered in presence of N J Watkins John E Stalker Wm Bryan |
