Brice at and before the delivery of these presents the receipt whereof
I do hereby acknowledge and for divers other considerations and causes
me thereunto moving have released from slavery liberated
manumitted and set free and by these presents do hereby release
from slavery liberate manumit and set free my mulatto
woman named Mary Jane being of the age of thirty seven years
and able to work and gain a sufficient livelihood and maintenance
and her the said mulatto woman named Mary Jane I do declare
to be henceforth free manumitted and discharged from all manner
of service or servitude to me my executors or administrators forever
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this
eighteenth day of January in the year of our Lord eighteen hundred
and fifty five

$500 00/100         Received this eighteenth day of January 1855 the
sum of five hundred dollars being the consideration expressed to be
paid in the foregoing instrument of writing by John W. Brice to
me                                          Richard C. Mackubin

Anne Arundel County to wit   On this eighteenth day of January
1855 before the subscriber a Justice of the peace of the state of
Maryland in and for said County personally appears Richard
C. Mackubin he being known to me to be the person who is named
and described as and professing to be a party to the foregoing deed or
Instrument of writing and doth acknowledge the same to be his act
and deed   In testimony whereof I hereunto subscribe my name on
the day and year aforesaid
                                        John E. Stalker
I hereby certify I this day received one dollar for stamp duty on this
Instrument of writing agreeably to the Act of Assembly of December
session 1846 chap 61.  Given under my hand this 19th day of January 1855
